    HR Intern

    The HR Intern will support the HR Manager by assisting with personnel file management, digital record-keeping, and HR administrative tasks. This internship provides hands-on experience in HR operations within a public library setting, offering an excellent opportunity for students interested in human resources, business administration, or library administration.

    • Assist with personnel file audits to ensure compliance with HR and library policies.
    • Organize and maintain employee records and general personnel filing.
    • Digitize paper documents and transition records into digital storage systems.
    • Apply document retention policies to existing records for organization and compliance.
    • Update HR software systems with employee information as directed.
    • Assist with Open Enrollment activities, as directed.
    • Use Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to format and update HR-related documents.
    • Assist in New Hire activities, including preparing materials for onboarding.
    • Provide general administrative support to the HR Manager.
    • Perform other responsibilities as needed.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

    • Current college student interested in a career in HR or related field.
    • Ability to communicate effectively with peers and represent CCPL’s mission, values, and vision.
    • Strong attention to detail with the ability to accurately organize records.
    • Ability to manage, categorize, and maintain HR records effectively.
    • Clear written and verbal communication for documentation and HR support tasks.
    • Basic Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
    • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
    • Strong organizational and time management skills.
    • Willingness to learn new processes and ask for guidance when needed.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.


    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Current enrollment in a degree program related to Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
    • Familiarity with HRIS systems and document management software is a plus.
    • Previous experience in an administrative or clerical role is beneficial but not required.


    PHYSICAL AND MENTAL DEMANDS

    • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 pounds, such as boxes of files and office supplies.
    • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk, using a computer and office equipment.
    • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching to access file cabinets and storage areas.
