    WiFi and Computers

    Free WiFi is available throughout the Main Library and West Branch.

    Public computers are located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library at the top of the central staircase. Computers are also available on the first floor in the Teens Area for teens to use and in the Kids Area for use by children with responsible adults. You do not have to be a CCPL cardholder to use library computers.

    The Digital Media Lab at the Main Library offers iMacs with creative software.

    Copying

    Copiers are located in the Copy, Scan, & Print areas on the Main Library's 1st and 2nd floors. Black-and-white copies are 10¢ per page. Cash is required, but the copier will give you change after you've made at least one copy.

    Color copying is not available, but you can scan and print in color. (See the "Scanning" section below.)

    Printing

    Black-and-white printouts and copies are 10¢ per page. Color printouts are 50¢ per page.

    Printing from Home

    In addition to being able to print directly from the public computers on the Main Library's 2nd floor, you can also send print jobs wirelessly and pick them up at one of the Main Library's two print stations.

    Sending Your Print Job

    Option 1: Submit your print job online. Upload your file at https://carmelclaylibrary.eprintitsaas.com/public/upload. You'll be asked to enter your library card number or your name, which you'll then enter into the printing station at the library when you come to pick up your printout. (Be sure to keep this name/number handy.)

    Option 2: Submit your print job via email. You may email your file as an attachment to bw@carmelclaylibrary.org (for a black-and-white print) or to color@carmelclaylibrary.org (for a color print). You'll receive an email letting you know that your print job was received. Be sure to make a note of the Release Code in this email since you'll need it when you come to pick up your printout.

    Depending on the size of your file, it may take several minutes before you receive a confirmation message that your job was received. The print queue is cleared nightly, so jobs must be picked up the same day.
     

    Picking Up Your Print Job

    Go to one of the two printing stations in the Copy, Scan, & Print areas at the Main Library (located near the entrance to the Teens Area on the 1st floor or next to the public computers on the 2nd floor).

    If you submitted your print job online, you'll enter the library card number or the name that you entered when you uploaded your print job online.

    If you submitted your print job via email, you'll enter the Release Code you received in the confirmation email.

    You may pay for your printout at the station with either cash or credit card.

    Scanning

    Scanners for saving a digital copy of a document or image are located in the Copy, Scan, & Print areas on the Main Library's 1st and 2nd floors. You can choose to email your scanned file to yourself or someone else* or you can save it to your own USB drive. If you want, you can then print the file in black and white or in color. (See "Printing" section above.)

    Our scanners offer both a document feed option for scanning individual sheets of paper as well as a 12" x 17" flatbed scanner. The maximum resolution is 600 dpi.

    * Although the library does not offer a fax machine, the scanner can serve a similar function if you have an email address for the person to whom you wish to send the file.

    3D Printing

    3D printing is offered in the Digital Media Lab at the Main Library. Learn all about it here.

    Audio & Video Recording

    The Digital Media Lab at the Main Library offers two audio recording rooms and a video recording room that can reserved by cardholders in the CCPL system. The Digital Media Lab also offers iMac workstations for editing audio and video.

    Electric Vehicle Charging Stations

    Two electric vehicle charging stations for public use are located on the 2nd floor of the Main Library parking garage. A library card is not required to use them. They charge at a level 2 rate (240 volts). Charging costs $3/hour.

    To use the library's vehicle charging stations, you will first need to download the free ChargePoint app. Once you have the app set up, you can simply hold your device up to the charging station to activate the process and release the charging cord. The app will alert you when the vehicle is fully charged, so you do not need to remain with your vehicle while it is charging.

    Solar Power

    Located on the roof of the Main Library are 552 photovoltaic panels that will soon begin capturing the sun's energy and coverting it into 325,000 kWh of power a year. It is anticipated that this solar power will supply 20–30% of the building's annual energy needs.
